The ‘Renmarinas Demos’ Programme is an initiative of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, managed through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), which aims to grant aid for investment in test platforms and port infrastructures for marine renewables, both in the Spanish maritime-terrestrial public domain and in Spanish port waters.
Tender for the supply, installation and commissioning of a wave generation system and a wave absorption and compensation system for the marine hydraulics laboratory of RENMARINAS Arinaga test platform. Tender for the building works of the marine hydraulics laboratory of the RENMARINAS Arinaga test platform (batch 1) and construction management and health and safety coordination service (batch 2). Tender for the electrical installation of the RENMARINAS Las Palmas test platform (batch 1), electrical installation of the RENMARINAS Arinaga test platform (batch 2) and supply of submarine cables (batch 3). Tender for the supply of monitoring buoys (batch 1), doppler systems (batch 2), sodar system (batch 3), bird detection system (batch 4) and echosounders (batch 5).
This programme promotes the following actions through 4 sub-programmes: The creation and adaptation and/or reinforcement of test platforms for marine renewables by Research Organisations (Sub-programme 1); the creation or reinforcement of test platforms for marine renewables (Sub-programme 2); the development of marine renewable technology demonstrators (Sub-programme 3); and joint projects of marine renewable technology demonstrators linked to a test platform (Sub-programme 4).
‘Renmarinas Demos’ is part of component 7 “Deployment and integration of renewable energy” of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the implementation of the Next Generation EU funds.
This initiative marks a milestone for the implementation of innovative solutions associated with marine renewable energies and seeks to make Spain an international benchmark for technological development and innovation in this area of energy transition, as well as an industrial benchmark in the sector, while maintaining a sustainable and orderly socio-environmental deployment, as all awarded projects are subject to compliance with the environmental safeguard guarantees established in the call for proposals.
Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias has been beneficiary of this aid for the execution of the RENMARINAS Arinaga and RENMARINAS Las Palmas projects, which must be fully completed by January 2026.
ITC is a public company and as such is subject to the state procurement regime, with open tendering processes required for all supply components and works exceeding a certain amount.
In this case, a total of four public tenders are foreseen, which will also be divided into several batches depending on the nature of the supply or work, in order to allow for the maximum competitive concurrence of applications:
