RENMARINAS Arinaga is a marine energy testing platform that allows the evolution of prototypes from a minimum TRL (Technology Readiness Level) of 3 (proof of concept) to a TRL 7 (demonstrator in real operating conditions).

The platform includes 3 off shore testing areas (floating photovoltaic, wind energy and wave converters) and a marine hydraulics laboratory.

It is located in the Port of Arinaga, Gran Canaria, which is one of the best regions in Europe when it comes to wind and photovoltaic resource. Moreover, the region with the greatest off-shore wind potential in Spain is situated close to this port.

This port has been used as a research platform since 2012, being the only bench test in South Europe connected to the grid. In fact, the first wind turbine in near-shore conditions in Spain, which in turn was the first wind turbine to break the 2 MW barrier (Siemens - Gamesa G128-5 MW model), was tested on this platform, certifying its power curve.
